ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ PERFORMANCE BASED ON FACTORS USING K-MEANS

Abstract

Clustering is the process of grouping of items which have similar characteristics into subsets where each subset will have their characteristic different from each other. The problem that every educational institution is facing is about not being able to tackle the reason behind every students performance and thats when an analysis on students performance using clustering methods came into existence. It is widely used for huge volume of data. K-means is the algorithm which going to be used in this paper, it is an analysis which makes clusters based on the k-centroid (grade of students). Students performance is analyzed based on the factors affecting their grades. This analysis helps to improvise the grade of each student. This will enable all the educational institutions to improvise their standards.
