Usage of social Network Sites by MBA Students and its impact on Education in Bangalore

Abstract

This study examines the use of social networking sites by the MBA grandaunts and factors influencing the usage of Social Networking Sites (SNSs) amongst students pursuing MBA in learning their subjectsand performance positively. From literature review the three factors identified as a potentially influencing the usage of Social Networking Sites (SNSs) amongst students which are Age, gender and Access to Technology.The study adopted exploratory approach using descriptive survey design where a sample of 178 people was invited to participate in the research. The research instrument used was a structured questionnaire which are circulated to students using snow-ball sampling. The questionnaire rendered a sample of 150 usable responses, of which 57 were girls and 93 were boys.The results were recorded into a spreadsheet and analysed to generate the results of the survey. This study also made an attempt to investigate the use of social networking site in institutions and how social networking sites can be used as a substitute to promote learning in institutions.The most important academicpurpose of using SNSs item for students was to let them communicate with classmates on course topics and shareideas conveniently. The Researchersused regression statistics tool and observes that the Personal & Professional, 0.01 & 0.00 respectively which is less than the significance value of 0.05 (95%) of Social Networking Sites has impact on Education with reference to MBA Students in Bangalore. The results recommend that using SNSs in academic field with regulated learning environment will be more useful. The findings indicate the use of social networking sites by MBA students are not only as members of social networking sites to interact with their friends but also for learning.
