SECONDARY METABOLITES OF SOME MEDICINAL PLANTS FROM CUDDALLORE DISTRICT EXTRACTED WITH DIFFERENT SOLVENTS
Abstract
Success in determining the secondary metabolites from plant material is largely dependent on the type of solvent required in the extraction procedure. Thus, the theme of our work was to find the occurrence of different secondary metabolites in the herbal plants experienced by traditional practitioners of Cuddallore district, Tamil Nadu, India, using different solvents: acetone, chloroform, ethanol and petroleum ether.
