CHALLENGES IN MANAGEMENT IN AUTISM SPECTURM DISORDER A CASE STUDY
Abstract
Background: Behavior modification and Sensory integration therapy are the most effective psychological treatments for Autism spectrum Disorder. Master XYZ, 5 .5 years child, Hindu, lower socio economic status , came to Nai Subah, Varanasi with the chief complaints of poor eye contact, fidgeting , lack of attention , stubborn, temper tantrum, aggressive and repetitive behavior,, making irrelevant noises and remains aloof .
Aim: - The present study was to see the efficacy of the behavior therapy procedures in the management of the autism spectrum disorder.
Methodology: -. Tools used Developmental Screening Test, Vineland Social Maturity Scale (J. Bharat Raj), Seguin form Board Test (SFBT), Indian Scale for Assessment of Autism (ISAA).
Procedure: Positive and Negative reinforcement, Contingency Management: Shaping , Time out, Premack Principle, Graded Task Assignment, Social Skill Training , auditory and tactile sensory approach .
Results: There was remarkable improvement in all areas at the termination of therapy..
