PORTRAYAL OF AN ACID VICTIM IN THE MALAYALAM MOVIE UYARE

Abstract

Acid throwing is called an acid attack. Defined as the act of throwing acid or a similarly corrosive substance on to the body of another within the intention to disfigure, maim, torture, or kill. Acid attack as a social issue, which aggressively violating the individual rights, it is often a violent attack from the part of striker to an individual. More often women are the most victims of acid attack. There are a lot of such attacks are reported in the contemporary scenario.   Uyare is a Malayalam movie directed by Manu Ashokan, written by Bobby and Sanjay in 2019. It was produced by the sister trio- Shenuga, Shegna and Sherga. It was beautifully acted by Parvathy Thiruvothu, portrays journey of an acid victim Pallavi Ravindran. Asif Ali act as character Govind            Balakrishnan, lover of Pallavi Ravindran and antagonist in the movie. Tovino act as friend and motivational character in the name Vishal Rajashekaran. It is a perfect example for visualizing the inner and outer conflicts of an acid victim.
