Abstract

Indian poetry in English came to the foreground with poets such as Toru Dutt, Rabindranath Tagore, Sarojini Naidu, Nissim Ezekiel, A. K. Ramanujan, and so on in the colonial era. Where as in the Post Colonial Era, there are only a handful of poets who gained fame like Jayanta Mahopatra, Shiv K Kumar, Keki N Dharuwalla, and Kamala Das. In the present century, there are some poets who have received global recognition. Manas Bakshi is one such poet, a prominent voice in the Indian English poetry.
