Abstract

A tannery is the term for a place where the skins are processed. The pollution produced by the industries concerned with the transformation of raw hide is characterized by a considerable volume of waste water containing a great quality of oxidable matter, for the most part organic, a large amount of soluble matter and suspended solids, and lastly certain toxic compounds representing a danger for the environment.
