Abstract

This article explores the significant impact of self-help groups (SHGs) on the socio-economic empowerment of tribal women. Drawing from extensive secondary source data and library research, it highlights SHGs as powerful tools for promoting gender equality, economic development, and social inclusion among marginalized communities, especially tribal women. Through collective action and mutual support, SHG members have overcome poverty and marginalization, achieving empowerment and self-reliance. SHGs have played a crucial role in enhancing financial inclusion for tribal women, providing access to formal financial services and enabling income-generating activities. Additionally, SHGs have facilitated capacity building and skill development, empowering women to navigate the modern economy and advocate for their rights. Despite their successes, SHGs and tribal women face challenges such as limited resources and social norms. Addressing these challenges requires collaborative efforts from policymakers and practitioners to foster financial inclusion, promote gender equality, and strengthen institutional support. By leveraging insights from secondary source data, this article aims to inform evidence-based policymaking and programming for the empowerment of tribal women through SHGs.
