Analyzing the Performance of the Coal Fired Powered System in association with Solar Energy

Abstract

With the lack of petroleum products and its negative impacts on climate, sun powered energy has been pulling in increasingly more consideration. The incorporation of solar energy into the traditional coal-fired power system offers a way of addressing solar energy's inherited limitations, such as erratic and unstable conditions. In this paper, a solar field, turbine and boiler coupling analysis is performed and Matrix Thermal Balance Equations are introduced in the SAPG device calculation. The result shows that the incorporation of the solar field into the coal-fired unit results in mass flow rate variation and temperature drop of superheat steam and reheat steam significantly for a SAPG system operating in coal-saving mode with constant load. As a result, if too much power is generated by the solar field, more consumption will be needed.
