The Confessional Statement and Conviction

Abstract

Sometimes Confession could be taken postitive to both, by the confessor and by the recipient of the confession as in case of Confession in love which is very commonly used theme in literature.  But in cases of confessions of wrongdoing in religion, social evil or in law, there are several specific kinds of confessions that have much significance and carries its consequences.

In law, Confession is an act of admitting that the person has done something worng or illegal which the person confessing would have kept it secret otherwise. A Legal confession involves an admission of some wrong doing that has a legal consequeces. Admission is an oral statement or written which gives information about the liability of the person making admission example of admission could be like, statement made during cross examination in criminal matters or in civil cases statement made in pleadings, documents etc. Confessions find a place in criminal cases most effectively. Admissions are usually used in civil proceedings, but they may also be used in criminal matters too. The present study will be about that there exist several distinction between Admissions and Confessions as per Indian Evidence Act 1872.Thus the present research is an endeavour about the comparative study between admission and confession and their evidentiary value in Indian Criminal Legal system.
