Abstract

In the modern manufacturing era, the products are produced by industries aiming to meet the global standards. The industries must update themselves according to current trends to achieve global standards. Nowadays, companies are concentrating mainly on quality maximization, reduction in inventory and zero obsolescence. This project is focused on bringing down the inventory cost and zero obsolescence of specialized carburettor. To fulfil this objective the KANBAN card system which is an integral part of kaizen and 5S is used. It is a method for regulation of flow of goods within the industry and with external vendors. There are 200 different components which are assembled to make a carburettor. Delay in supply of any component will increase the production time of carburettor. The KANBAN system avoids these delays by sending a card signal to internal departments and sub vendors. This card is a signal for them to start the production and to supply the product within specified time
