Abstract

Settlement of dirt and particles like dust, sand and mud on the surface of solar photovoltaic panel obstruct or distract light energy from reaching the solar cells. It has been found that there is chance for reduction in efficiency up to 85% due to these external resistances. Hence cleaning of panel is mandatory at regular intervals. Our plan is to clean the panel by rolling and sliding a long shaft with brushes over the panel. The power required may also be taken from the panel. At the same time a water pump, pumps water from the water reservoir and makes it to flow over the solar panels at a specified flow rate. Water gets collected at the bottom of the panel and it is returned to the same reservoir through a water filter. Thus the water can be reused several times without wasting it.
