Abstract

Power transmission for shafts is mainly with the help of either crossed helical gear or worm gear or hypoid gears in a machine, but the manufacturing of these gear is very complex, power loss in gears due to sliding motion and the shaft orientations is very limited, so need arises for a better system. This project Gearless Transmission System" being compact and portable equipment, which is skilful and is having practice in transmitting power at right angles without any gears being manufactured. The Gearless Transmission transmits the input power towards the output side such a way that the angular forces produced in the shaft are transmitted with the help of rods which takes up the input power and the right-angle drive is transferred towards the output shaft and rod assembly. The rods are free to sliding motion. Hence very little friction plays while the power is being transmitted. Hunting and back lash errors are absent. Therefore, it is appreciated that efficiency as high as 90-92% are possible in gearless transmission mechanism. It works on the Elbow mechanism
