A Study on Job Satisfaction Level amongst Higher Education Teachers of Ahmedabad City

Abstract

Job satisfaction is one of the most widely discussed and enthusiastically studied constructs in such related disciplines as industrial-organizational psychology, organizational behaviour, personnel and human resource management and organizational management.One of such common challenges faced by the management while managing employees(teachers) include- Job satisfaction & Employee Loyalty. The invaluable resource that any institute possesses is its work force; as a matter of fact, an employees longer work experience in the same organization increases his worth. The primary qualities a teacher possesses include being introspective, beingcooperative, being directive and being expressive. A syllabus which is effective and a curriculum that is well planned can only be fruitful with availability of teachers who are efficient and effective in their duties. Knowledge alone cannot be the basis for gauging the efficiency of a teacher. There are other factors too like whether the teacher is comfortable in handling the profession that influence the effectiveness of the system. With many research works having taken place in this area with different organizations, what we lack is a particular research on job satisfaction that needs to be taken up.Hence, researcher has conducted a research where 50 teachers has been targeted and performed the survey on the basis of systematic sampling. The method followed in the process of data collection was structured questionnaire method.
