Abstract

In Akola District Mahan Dam is natural resource for drinking water. Due to human and industrial activities the dam water is contaminated. This is the serious problem now a day. Thus the study of the water quality is very important to avoid and clear the natural eco system. Here carried out in the different stream side. The present study is aimed at estimate the nature of water quality index (WQI) for the reserve dam water of Mahan area. On the selected four streams side five water samples were collected at each station for a physiochemical analysis. For analyses present water quality status by analyses data evaluation and water quality index, following 10 parameters have been considered Viz. pH, color, total dissolved solids, total alkalinity, total hardness, Nitrate and phosphate. The found problem studies of contamination of reservoir water by various source of water. The study of physico-chemical parameter of this mahan dam water sample suggests that the evaluation of water quality parameters as well as water quality management practices should be carried out periodically to protect the water resources.
