Abstract

This research work is proposed to optimize the Urban Extraction (UME) for urban canopy parameters. In this research work, three factors such as canopy parameters from the satellite imagery, roughness length (Z0) and displacement height (Zd) are considered. Principles of urban geometry for vegetation are followed here. The calculation of interested parameters is made related to various other vegetation data. It is not easy to calculate the urban vegetation and to predict the urban areas because it includes grass, shrubs, some have lawns and some area consists of trees or dry lands.  In this research work, mainly three tasks are performed. First task is to calculate individual tree detection. Second is to calculate tree attributes and third is to create UME interface for automatically estimate Z0 and Zd. To detect the vegetation in urban area, vegetation indicator NDVI (Normalized Differential Vegetation Indicator) is used. For the processing of Input image, MATLAB code with the GIS software is selected in this research work. Python, programming language is used to calculate the Z0 and Zd values automatically.
