Abstract

Gingerol is the one of the major bioactive constituent present in the Ginger. The [6]-gingerol has
significant importance in biological and pharmaceutical world, making it of paramount importance.
The present review describes different methods of extraction characterization and detection of 6
gingerol. The general methods used for extraction are sokhlet method, Microwave assisted extraction
and Ultrasonic method with different set of solvents. The [6]-gingerol has been characterized by
various instrumental methods like high performance liquid chromatography, Thin layer
chromatography, UV spectroscopy, FTIR and NMR . Molecular imprinted polymer has also been
investigated for separation and purification of [6]-gingerol from Ginger. Quantum dots embedded
molecular imprinted polymers can be exploited for simultaneous extraction,Preconcentration and
detection of 6 gingerol from ginger extract.
