IDENTIFICATION OF TEACHING LEARNING APPROACH TO FOSTER ENTREPRENEURIAL MINDSET

Abstract

Entrepreneurial education is becoming relevant area of scientific research in the field of general school education as well as teacher education. Not only psychological variable related to entrepreneurship but also other subfield of entrepreneurship education has been focused subarea of research. What can be teachable skills and teaching method for the effective entrepreneurial education are major questions, which are getting legitimacy in the scientific community. There is not unanimous pedagogical formula to teach entrepreneurship and the alternatives of proficiency and modality depends on the aims, curricula and encumber imposed by the education institution context.  This paper attempts to identify the appropriate teaching methods for fostering entrepreneurial mindset of learner. Data was collected by semi structured interview, teaching method check list, teaching method rating scale and teaching method open ended schedule for identifying appropriate teaching method for selected entrepreneurial attributes. The study had conducted in two phases. Results of the first phase of the study on a sample of experts in teaching methods and entrepreneurial education complete the list of eighteen teaching-learning methods that could be used in entrepreneurship education across the curriculum. The results of second phase of the study show that experts give their opinion about which teaching methods e.g. group project, case study, individual project, development of a new venture creation project, and problem-solving are appropriate for the selected entrepreneurial skills, knowledge and attitude. Furthermore, in this study, the appropriate teaching methods in selected component of entrepreneurial skill, knowledge and attributes have been presented. There is the need for an educational model that gives teachers the skills to combine the traditional teaching methods with the innovative methods through course design and content.
