Abstract

Zinc oxide nanowire is an excellent material for wide range of electronic, opto-electronic, sensing, solar cell applications. Synthesis of arrayed ZnO nanowire using microwave assisted hydrothermal method has accelerated this field because of rapid growth rate can be achieved using this method. However, rational design for such nanowire arrays requires extensive studies on various parametric variations for this method is largely lacking. In this work, the role of seed density on the synthesis of ZnO nanowire array has been investigated while using microwave assisted hydrothermal method. The morphological variances and crystalline quality of the nanowires synthesized using varying seed density has been studied using field emission scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction.
