ICT SELF-CONCEPT AMONG THE TEACHER TRAINEES IN TEACHER EDUCATION: AN ANALYTICAL STUDY

Abstract

The present study is an attempt to investigate the ICT self-concept among the teacher trainees in teacher education: a descriptive study. The use ICT becomes an urgent need of the hour in present scenario. The objectives of the study were 1. To study the ICT self-concept of male and female teacher trainees. 2. To study the ICT self-concept of rural and urban teacher trainees. The sample for the study comprised of 100 B.Ed. Students of Saharanpur district. ICT SELF-CONCEPT SCALE was developed and standardized by the researcher with the help of his guide. The findings of this study revealed that mean score of Female teacher trainees is greater than mean score of Male teacher trainees on Self-Confidence in ICT , Comfort in the use of ICT dimension and the total score of ICT Self-Concept Scale (ICTSCS). So the Female teacher trainees have good self-concept regarding ICT on Self-Confidence in ICT, Comfort in the use of ICT dimension and the total score of ICT Self-Concept Scale (ICTSCS). The mean score of urban teacher trainees is greater than mean score of rural teacher trainees on Self-Confidence in ICT, Comfort in the use of ICT dimension and the total score of ICT Self-Concept Scale (ICTSCS). So the Urban teacher trainees have good self-concept regarding ICT on Self-Confidence in ICT, Comfort in the use of ICT dimension and the total score of ICT Self-Concept Scale (ICTSCS).
