Abstract

Reduction of power loss and enhancement of voltage profile in active distribution network (DN) is a prominent issue in recent times. In this paper a suitable methodology is implemented to reduce the DN power loss to considerable extent. Further, combined approach of voltage stability index and firefly algorithm is presented to solve capacitor placement problem in DN. Further, the objective of the implemented method is to reduce the power loss of DN. Also, the method is tested on 83 bus practical Taiwan DN. Further, different cases are considered for analysis and also important findings are tabulated. The developed method shows its supremacy in terms of power loss reduction in DN.
