Properties, and applications of binary covalent carbides: a review

Abstract

SiC and B₄C are the only carbides, that show complete covalent character. These compounds exhibit several useful properties that can be employed in laboratories and industries. They have exceptional mechanical properties, show inertness towards environment, and have semiconducting behaviour, to name a few. Further, work can be done in this direction to improve the applicability of these materials.
