Abstract

The rice hull, called rice husk, is the coating on a seed or grain of rice produced from hard materials like silica and lignin. It can be easily collected and is a cheap material widely used in building materials (fiber board, brick), production of electricity, and also in production of Fuels (ethanol, butanol, syngas etc.). It is a valuable material in modern science which can be utilize in manufacturing of some traditional materials such as cement, ethanol, paper board, etc. Also, it is helpful in synthesis of some recent materials such as fungal bio-pesticide, bio-fuels (bio-oil and bio-diesel), biogenic silica, graphene, oil sorbent materials, high quality syngas etc. The current article focuses on recent approaches for synthesis and evaluation of valuable materials from it. Also highlights: ideal features of rice husk, common applications and materials obtained from it. An effort has been taken to tabular the _ traditional as well as recent methods for the synthesis of its valuable materials and characterization of rice husk along with Patents filed.
